Tutzing, 1997. Oblong, 32 x 24 cm, 8, 6 pp. Beautiful color halftone of the autograph fair copy composed in 1816, together with B/W line-cut of the first edition issued by Diabelli in 1829. The text comes from Schubert’s poet-friend Franz Ritter von Schober, author of the texts of 16 Schubert songs, the most famous among them “An die Musik”. The autograph—long considered lost and only resurfacing in 1993—varies from the printed version in a number of ways. Stiff wrappers, with photographic reproduction of the 19th c. binding. $42
