La catena d’Adone (The Chains of Adonis) is the only surviving opera by Domenico Mazzocchi. The work, with a strong demarcation between recitative and aria, was Mazzocchi's answer to what he referred to as the "monotony" of Florentine opera. Introduction in It by Maria Cecilia Zucchini.
