[Henle Music Facsimiles, 12]. Munich, 1998. Oblong, 33 x 26 cm, 30, xvi pp. Full-color halftone of the composer’s “working” autograph, composed in 1815 and 1816 over an 18 month period. The ms contains many crossouts and alterations and although a later “stage”—a copyist’s ms—served as the Stichvorlage for the 1817 first edition, the ms here is in many ways more accurate and can be called upon to verify or refute questionable readings in the print. Afterword in Ger-Eng by Siegard Brandenburg. Hardbound with handsome boards in burgundy moiré fabric and pasted title label. $145 (view other volumes from this series)
