GUITAR HEROS

Guitar Heros, The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Bulletin, Winter, 2011. This publication (48 pp. with 70 fantastic photo illustrations) focuses on the work of John D’Angelico, James D’Aquisto and John Monteleone, three Italian-American luthiers who worked in and around New York City from 1905-1995.  The engaging text, written by associate curator Jayson Kerr Dobney of the museum’s department of musical instruments, puts these masters' work into context—with a special focus on Italian and specifically Neapolitan instrument making from the 16th to the late 19th century.  There is also a very intriguing instrument appendix dedicated to the Met’s collection of Italian violins. Wrappers. $25
