New York, 1967. Oblong, 35 x 28 cm, 164 pp.

Fine monochrome halftone facsimiles of the autograph scores. Of the six facsimiles editions published by the Robert Owen Lehman Foundation between 1963-1969 (they were presented completely free of charge to music libraries accross the United States), this one is the most remarkable, bringing together four diverse works by Brahms (from more than 50 music mss in the Gertrude Clark Whittal Foundation Collection). Of course the jewel of the collection is the 3rd Symphony written in 1883 in Wiesbaden and dedicated to Hans von Bülow (the premiere was conducted by Han Richter). The score is essentially a fair copy but contains numerous corrections, crossouts & redirects. Printed on fine laid pape, bound in green linen with contrasting spine and tips
